The alumni of Sacred Heart Convent School are actively encouraging teachers, parents and students to take part in social welfare initiatives.

Association of Sacred Heart Alumni (ASHA) along with Jeevan, the only suicide prevention centre in the state, and Tata Math Hospital (TMH), have already taken up the job to train teachers to deal with stress among students, with the intention of putting an end to teen suicides.

Abha VishwakarmaCity mentor among Fulbright 64

Jamshedpur’s Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) economics teacher just got handpicked among 64 mentors from across the globe for a rare honour.

Abha Vishwakarma (50) has been picked for this year’s International Leaders in Education Programme (ILEP) under the Fulbright Scholarship, one of the most prestigious honours in the US.

UK FlagGirls of Sacred Heart Convent School are buzzing with activities. Two students of the school returned back from Swinton, UK, after successfully participating in the Indo-Swinton Exchange Programme and another group of 38 students made the best out of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at Panchlingeshwar in Orissa.

Meghall Gupta and Anshika Bihany, Class XII students of the school, were selected for a fortnight long camp in the UK. “It was an enriching experience to be a part of the canip. We also conquered Greengable, the third highest peak of the UK. The camp also ensured that we visit different museums and go for outdoor activities. It was real fun to conquer the peak in an adverse situation at sub-zero temperature,” Meghali said.

Children of families ostracised by society for being infected by Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) have got the much-needed support. Association of Sacred Heart Alumni (ASHA) has decided to support such children financially and psychologically to bring them back to the mainstream.

Sr. Teresita Mary with childrenJamshedpur, Sept. 24: The Association of Sacred Heart Alumni (Asha) today observed the Day of the Girl Child by lending a helping hand to some underprivileged students.

Ten children from five schools got Rs 1,000 each and two meritorious students from each of the five schools received financial assistance to ensure that they could continue education in higher classes.
