Rain rain go away, come again another day
To help partially compensate for the loss of livelihood that the flood had caused, our school, Sacred Heart Convent and ASHA (Association Of Sacred Heart Alumni) initiated monetary contributions from the students’ pocket-money. The students willingly came forward with their contributions for the victims of the flood and sympathized and showed their concern for the poor and the ones who had lost everything during the flood. To give a helping hand to the administration, we were also encouraged to donate old clothes that would be distributed in the affected areas. The sum of money that was collected was used to purchase utensils that would be required by the people in the distressed regions.
On the 12th of July, Teacher Lalitha Seshadri, Teacher Samarpita Biswas and Teacher Keshmira Kotwal who are members ASHA and some members of the Interact Club and Girl Guides made their way to a slum behind Parvati Ghat and later to the flood affected Kapali Village. Here, garments, shoes and vessels were distributed to the men, women and children. These were some areas in the town which were very adversely affected by the impact of the floods.
As a socially responsible institution, Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur instills a spirit of sacrifice and social awareness among its students.
