The importance of being a girl

Updates

While, 24 September is known world wide as Girl Child Day, it was on 16 December that a function was organized where Asha contributed towards education of girls from the unprivileged sections of society. Teachers of our school, Mrs G Lalitha Seshadri (President, Asha) and Ms Samarpita Biswas (Secretary, Asha) briefed school students about the project. Needy girl children, who were given monetary aid, were chosen from various Project Schools, like Carmel Hindi School, Loyola Project School, Lilyput School (DBMS), KSMS Hindi School and KPS Kadma Project School.

A senior teacher of the school, Mrs. Devina Chaturvedi spoke to the gathering about how privileged she felt to be a lady and made the students realize the importance and value of a woman for the betterment of the society. The website www.ashajsr.org, was inaugurated by Mr. Sharad Singh and the Principal, Sister Teresita Mary at Sacred Heart Convent School hall during assembly.

Later, senior members of ASHA appealed to the outgoing batch of this year to join the website as alumni. It would be a good opportunity keep in touch with each other and also, help the society.
