Unity for a cause
Young India, a body of young entrepreneurs and executives working under Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), organised a rally comprising 500 people today.
Another major rally was organised by Core Group, AIDS, Tata Steel. “Representatives from our core group and different NGOs took part in this rally. Moreover, 300 volunteers have left for Ranchi for the grand function scheduled at Morabadi grounds,” said D. Castleton, joint administrator, Tata Steel Family Initiatives Foundation (TSFIF).
Similar rallies were organised by Mount View School and Kerala Public School Mango. The Association of Sacred Heart Alumni (Asha) donated money collected through a recent rockshow.
The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) organised a series of programmes. YMCA volunteers began with a session at Sakchi autostand followed by sessions at Baridih and Golmuri.
“We addressed over 5000 people today,” said Anand Sahu, General Secretary, YMCA, Jamshedpur. While corporates and NGOs did their bit, students displayed their responsible side. While students of Church School, Beldih, tied red ribbons, at Delhi Public School, Mango, a special assembly was held.
Graduate School College for Women organised a quiz contest. Several programmes were organised in the rural areas, too. The Rishta Adolescent Development Society, an organisation of peer volunteers working with the Tata Steel Rural Development Society, will organise a weeklong programme at Jamshedpur, Potka and Patamda.
Interactive sessions and opening of youth resource centres have been lined up for the week. TSFIF distributed 30,000 red ribbons as a part of their awareness campaign.
